With two rounds of the RT Keedwell sponsored ACU British Solo Trial Championship still to go James Dabill has claimed his seventh ACU British Title with a fine but close victory at last weekend’s Tynemouth 'Reed Bowl' event.
This was a new event on the British Trials Championship calendar and a close competition it turned out to be in the Championship Class. Dabill completed the three laps for losses of five, five and zero but Iwan Roberts almost matched him as did Jack Price. The two young rivals were only just behind the multi British Champion but James deals well with the pressure as he bought his Vertigo machine home to give the machine its second British title.
Jack Sheppard who won last time out at Guisborough had to settle for fourth this time after suffering a five at Section four on lap 1. Jack still holds second place in the series but he is only two points ahead of Price with the two Scottish rounds remaining in two weeks’ time.
In the Experts Class Tom Minta dropped just one mark to take the win. The single dab went at section 3 on lap 2 as he went on to beat Richard Sadler into second place. The most amazing result of the Experts however went arguably to Chris Pearson who took his E Motion machine to third. The Splatshop man posted his best ever result on the electric bike. Current class champion Dan Thorpe had a disappointing ride by his high standards and by finishing in eighth Minta now has one hand on the trophy.
Jack Peace has not been beaten all season in the Youth A group and Sunday proved to be another great event for the Gas Gas rider. He finished clean over the 36 sections leaving Keiran Child and Josh Hanlon to pick up second and third places. You would not bet against Jack making it a clean sweep in what so far has been a tremendous season for him.
