Team JST GAS GAS UK had a great day at The Scott Trial on Saturday. Team riders Michael Brown, Jack Price and Sam Haslam won the prestigious ‘Scott Trophy’ for the best team of three riders entered on the same make of machine entered by a manufacturer. So congrats to my ‘A Team, families, helpers and Factory Kev for prepping Michaels and Jacks race bikes. This I’m very proud of especially after winning the same award at the SSDT back in May with Michael, Sam and Alexz.
JST GGUK No.1 rider Michael Brown was second overall which was excellent. Michael loves the both the Scott and Scottish and has finished 2nd in both events this year J. He was gutted not to win but congratulated winner James Dabill with the utmost respect.
Road and Trials GG rider Jack Price trained his ass off for the Scott and was rewarded for a very respectable 5th overall with a good observation and even better time. Jack will win this event one day, his face at the presentation showed me that he will. Jack forced a smile when he collected his award but really wanted the win.
JST GG rider Dan Thorpe was next best GG in 12th which was excellent for Dan. Good on both time and observation and no real dramas. Dan rides at his own pace at the Scott and his experience is invaluable.
JST GG rider and third member of the winning Team Sam Haslam was 13th with a very good observation score but down on time due to a bent front disc and numerous punctures. Everyone has a story after the Scott but I do feel for Sam because he was flying. The punctures towards the end were cruel but all part of this crazy race!
The ‘Herbert Scott’ award for the best first timer went to Cloburn JST GG rider Dan Peace in 19th place. JSTGGUK team mate Tom Minta was runner up for this award in 21st place overall. Well done to both these young riders and something that younger brother Jack will now have to win next year J.
JST GGUK rider Alexz Wigg had a painful day with his knee. Alexz really shouldn’t have ridden the event with his knee and now needs an urgent scan and probable surgery which will see him off a bike for a while now. Alexz last rode a bike over 2 months ago. After his superb runner up place last year and Alexz loving this race he entered, rode and finished but in a lowly 33rd place. I last saw him after Surrender sections and ironically that’s what he should have done but Wiggy ‘aint no quitter’ so he got the gasser home. Fair play mate…now get your knee sorted!
GG girl Katy Sunter finished the event but sadly out of time. Katy showed guts to finish her favourite event with a very swollen ongoing knee issue which will now need surgery as well.
Congratulations to James Dabill and Vertigo. Three wins all on three different bikes is impressive.
Thanks again to Kev for the ‘race bikes’
