Members of the Sagar family presented Phil Houghton with his award in memory of Alan SagarThe annual Llangollen and District MCC Club Championship presentation was a poignant occasion for 2016 as the Club took time out to remember two stalwarts who we unfortunately lost this year. Alan Sagar, well liked and respected in the Trials and Enduro world was remembered in the form of his own memorial trophy. Alan, a former rider himself was a pivotal figure in both his sons, Colin and Paul and grandson Toms careers. An event close to Alan's heart among many was the Lomax Cup Trial and it was only fitting his trophy would be linked to it. The honour of being the first name on this new award went to Phil Houghton, the club member with the lowest score recorded at the 2016 Lomax Cup. Phil took his big triumph twin around the course to finish on an unbelivable 16 marks lost.
The Club's former secretary, Jeanette "Jinny" Heyward", also sadly left us this year following illness. With the club for many years and Club Cecretary for over sixteen years, she will be sady missed but always remembered. The Club's best lady award will carry Jinny's name from this year on and was awarded to young Jess Widdowson. The proceeds from the raffle and the Christmas Goodwill Trial to be held in December, will be donated to Cancer Research as requested by both families.
