Hookwood Trials Club, Surrey ran the 75th Sunbeam Southern Experts Trial at Hookwood Trials Centre this weekend in brilliant sunny conditions. The solos and sidecars had to complete 3 laps of 12 sections, with a variety of terrain. Muddy gullies, tree root banks, huge rocks and some rocks thrown in.
Last years solo Champion Gas Gas rider Sam Haslam was out to defend his title and a pretty good job he did of it, however John Lampkin Beta riders Sam Connor & Toby Martyn put up a very strong challenge. Sam Connor putting in a very strong last lap of just 5 marks lost, and the only clean all day on the difficult rocks of section 10, the Beta rider nearly pulling off the win and just 2 short.
Luke and Josh Golding won the Southern Experts sidecars after a closely fought battle with Rupert and Chris Kimber, both crews on 6 a piece after 2 laps, however the Kimbers recorded a 5 on their 3rd lap which was the differance. Peter Dale and Harriet Shore finished in third place.
