It was a double header weekend for the Scarborough Club recently with the RT Keedwell ACU British Trials Championship round on Saturday followed by Round 1 of the British Arena Series on the Sunday. As expected the organising club put on a superb weekend that allowed the riders to best exhibit their skills.
Saturday saw Jack Price move further into the lead in the R T Keedwell Championships when he won by no less than 11 marks from fellow Gas Gas rider Dan Peace with Jack Sheppard in third place. The win for Price extends his lead in the series to 12 points as early championship runner Michael Brown could only manage a seventh place on the day.
For Dan Peace this was his best ever result in the Premier trials class as he kept Jack Sheppard at bay by a fairly narrow margin. Peaces younger brother Jack was also well up in fifth overall just behind Toby Martyn on the Vertigo. This was Toby’s best result with his new bike as he seems to be steadily gaining in confidence.
It is getting close in the Experts class as Richard Sadler took his first class victory of the year. Richard took a six mark win over series leader James Fry to reduce the points gap to just two at the half way stage in the 2017 Championship. Sherco’s Luke Walker took third when Dan Thorpe suffered a five on the very last section of the day. Both riders finished on 30 marks lost but Luke got the verdict by virtue of having one more clean ride after the 36 hazards.
Billy Green is looking a class act in the Youth A series and his win by eight marks over Josh Hanlon made it four wins from four rides in his first year in the group. Hanlon's second place keeps him just in front of Duncan MacColl in the overall standings with Osets Oliver Smith in fourth after a series of steady rides.
