The YMSA held the penultimate round of this years trials championship at a bright and sunny Longcliff tops last Sunday. A last minute venue change was caused by access problems to Carsington but Barry Burton was able to secure the use of the alternate venue. The course plotters had a long day setting out as they had little experience of Longcliff which has not seen much use lately.
Newly crowned British B class champion, Daniel Slack rode up a route and took the victory in A class from Charlie Smith with a day long battle between the duo. Charlie, set the pace holding a narrow lead due to an excellent first lap, but Dan managed to narrow the gap from 7 to 2 by the start of the final lap. Charlie had an unlucky 5 in section 4 while Dan put in a lap for only 8 marks lost giving him enough to seal the win.
The B class championship looks to be going down to the wire with Jack Dance making it two wins from the last two rounds narrowing the gap to Mitch Brightmore who took a safe second place with the difference being only a single dab. Jack's clean final lap earned him the win. Jacob Smith took a day off from his Leeds Utd football duties to take third.

Max Dance won D class again making him odds on to win the impressive D class cup at the end of the year.
Toby Shaw rode his first YMSA event and came away with an easy win in youth novice from Daisy Parsons and Max Chadwick.
The expert class entry was low due to the Supertrial being run on the same day, but Sam Yeomans put up the best hard route score of the day on 28 which include a clean sheet on the difficult 6th section.
