The Bultaco Revival Nostalgia Trial which revitalised the Westmorland Club's return to running this long established event proved incredibly popular last year with nearly 40 Bultaco mounted riders taking part in the 100 strong entry of classic Pre 65 style and twin shock bikes. Following on from the success of this event, plans for this year's Revival Nostalgia Trial are well underway with 16th June being the date for the diary.
Last year it was Yrjo Vesterinen who was the guest of honour, and this year, it will be the very popular Alan (Sid) Lampkin who has been invited, Sid of course being one of the factory Bultaco teamsters in his heyday.
In honour of this event last year, Yrjo Vesterinen invited several good friends from his Bultaco days to the trial which included Charles Coutard, Manuel Soler and Javier Cucurella, and for this year the Westmorland Club has managed to persuade 1979 World Champion Bernie Schreiber to attend when he will ride one of Vesty's Bultacos. Some of Vesty's Spanish friends from his Bultaco days may well attend again, but it's early days to confirm any appearances.
And new to the trial will be a Team Challenge for the Martin Lampkin Team Event in which any team of three riders on any combination of machine can take part. All entry fees for the team event will be paid to charity and already various members of the Lampkin clan have of course said they will attend. It really promises to be a great day and whilst last year's gathering will be a hard act to beat, the Westmorland crew aim to go one better in 2018.
