James Dabill – Beta made it three wins from three starts today at the Neath Motor Club St. David’s Trial, the third scoring round of the 2018 RT Keedwell sponsored ACU British Trials Championship. It was a comfortable win for Dabill who was never really challenged by the field. A first lap score of twelve set the early running with reigning Champion, Jack Price – Gas Gas second and Toby Martyn – Montesa, third.
The second lap saw Dabill improve to just seven dropped, but picking up three on time penalties. It was this lap that was to prove decisive for the runner-up spot with Martyn, who appears to have adaptedell to the Montesa this year, dropping fifteen to Price’s twenty. This, combined with a less impressive score from Price on the final lap was sufficient to give Martyn second place.
With four of an entry in the Masters Class, it was Ross Danby – TRS who came out winner by thirteen marks over Sam Haslam – Gas Gas with Tom Affleck – Vertigo rounding out the top three.
It was a high scoring event in the Youth Elite Class with just two riders dropping less than one hundred marks over the day. Mitch Brightmore – Gas Gas prevailed by a twenty-two mark margin over Gus O’Blien – Sherco with Brett Harbud – Beta claiming the remaining podium place.
The Expert Class saw Richard Sadler – Beta clock up his second successive victory by seven marks over a steadily improving Guy Kendrew – Beta with Dan Thorpe – Gas Gas finishing third.
