With the cancellation of the Club’s two day trial due to the threat of fire on the moors, the Club took the opportunity to move the Sunday event to a venue new to them at Thorlby just west of Skipton. Ironically the dry grass was wet from the light rain that greeted the riders at the start.
The event was expected to be a tussle between John Maxfield, Tony Calvert and Nick Jefferies for the honours but at the final count it was George Emmott on his Triumph Twin Special that turned on the style and came out on top losing only 2 marks.
The Clubmen had their own battle to resolve and it was Mick Whitlow (Cub) losing 21 that came out on top, 4 ahead of Steves Thomas and Gossop on their Bantams with the former taking the tie on the Club’s older rider wins rule.
