Members of the Ilkley Motor Club and Airedale & Pennine Motor Club joined forces at the annual Pateley Bridge Agricultural Show on September 24th to marshal the car parks in aid of charities. The procedure is to station large white collection buckets in all car parks, all suitable lettered with the marshals collect donations throughout the day whilst performing their duties. The result this year was a mind boggling £1160.00 with the sum divided equally between two charities. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a vital link in the case of emergency for the farming community, were presented with a cheque for £580.00 and the Multiple Sclerosis Appeal also received a cheque for £580.00. The marshalling and car park control has been a voluntary activity by the two motor clubs involved for several years.
