Grantham Pegasus MC & LCC kicked off their 2019 season with their New Year Trial at Stainby where 65 riders turned out to compete over 5 laps of 8 sections. At the end of the day local riders Chris Alford and Tom Ablewhite could not be separated as they both returned perfect scorecards and were declared joint winners. Having made the long journey down from Killin in Scotland for the Sheffield Indoor trial, Andrew Anderson stopped over to take part and he finished in a good third place on 8 marks lost. Best Intermediate grade rider on the day was Mike Evans. On the 50/50 sections Jim Bown put in a good ride to top the route on his TLR Honda.
Catherine Alford was at her consistent best and she brought her FK/JST Gas Gas home for just a loss of 11 marks. Catherine was best Novice and her score was just a single dab better than best Over 40 rider Tom Collett on his Montesa. For the loss of 22 marks Jacob Potts rode well on his Sherco in the Youth B/C class. Mick James showed most of the modern bikes the way on his 350cc Triumph dropping just 26 marks as best twin shock machine.
One further rider turned in a perfect scorecard and that was Mike Sanderson who mastered the white route on his Triumph Cub in the Pre 65 class. Three riders tied on a single dab, they were Gary Skipworth, Adult beginner class, Kev Witting, Pre 65 class and John Hamblin on his Bultaco in the Fun class, well done to all of them. Top Youth beginner was young Reece McDaid who dropped just 18 marks on his Beta. A great ride Reece well done.
