The first trial of the Peterborough Trials Club season took place today where 53 riders tackled the Hayy Bone Trial at a mostly sunny, but windy Stibbington quarry. The overnight rain was mostly absorbed with only section 8 being a bit slippy at the beginning.
The winner of the trial on 21 marks was intermediate class rider Martyn Rushbrook who dropped 21 marks on his Gas Gas from Mark Hawkins who dropped 40 marks and Callum Hedison who dropped 43 marks. The best youth rider on the hard route was Jacob Potts on 70 marks dropped.
On the 50/50 route Mick Thurman was best on his Montesa dropping 4 marks from Tom Bishop who dropped 21 marks on his TRS.
On the middle route Pete Rushbrook made a last minute decision to put his bike in the van and was glad he did as he only dropped 5 to be best over40 from Ross Mason who dropped 8 marks on his Sherco. Other class winners on the middle route were Nick Burton who was best twinshock on his Fantic dropping 21 marks and John Snowden who was best Novice also dropping 21 marks. The best youth rider on the middle route was Alex Woodhouse who dropped 17 marks on his Vertigo.
For this year we have introduced a sportsman class which follows the same concept as the 50/50 route but for easy/middle route riders. The inaugural winner of the sportsman route was Tony Bilton who dropped just 1 mark from Paul Woodhouse who dropped 5 marks.
On the white route, adult riders Doug Theobald and Gary Hall both finished on 0 marks dropped and Shaun Proctor the first winner of the Pre70 class also finished on 0 marks dropped. The best youth rider on the white route was Reece McDaid who dropped just 2 marks.
Four riders tackled the conducted route today with a mix of challenging and muddy sections. All the boys enjoyed their days riding.
Thankyou to everyone that observed for us today in the cold wind, its very much appreciated. Also a big thanks to the course plotters who give up their time on a Saturday. We hope for better weather and to see you all at our next trial on 21st April at Stibbington.
