With temperatures soaring above 20 degrees C in the Vale of York, the Eboracum crew were out sunning themselves at their Charity Trial Weekend, at Ouseburn, over the Easter period. The action kicked off with a short three lap, seven section course on Friday night, as a warm up to the main Two Day Charity Trial. A few marks were lost in this low scoring event, but clean punchcards were handed to stand in secretary Sarah Laws from Mick Clarke, Christopher Dale, Richard Mee, Jason Gendall, Paul Pulman and Chris Dale in the Clubman class, and Andrew Sharples and D. Gamble in Clubman Easy. Jack Pulman and Bobbie Pulman battled it out in the Youth class, and Connor Watson cleaned Youth Easy from George Darrell.
Saturdays action kicked off the Two Day Charity Trial. Seven sections in the 'big' wood were followed by a trip over to the 'little' wood for one section, before riders headed out to do six sections around the boundaries of Allerton Park, then back to the 'roadside' section near the start. Two and a half laps gave riders a 37 section trial covering around 8 miles per full lap. Mike Watson topped the Pre65 class with 1 mark lost in the 'little' wood, just pipping Richard Hildrick, and Callum Williamson cleaned the entire course in the Twinshock class to lead the trial overnight.
The hot weather once again kicked off Sundays action. The format was the same as Saturday, but with different sections. Mike Watson once again continued his winning ways in the Pre65 class with a 1 mark loss in the 'little' wood again, putting him on a total of 2 for the weekend. This score won him the Howard Hunter Trophy. However it was Callum Williamson's 1 mark loss on Sunday that won him the Kendra Trophy in the Twinshock class, and was the overall weekend winner. Making full use of the 'comfy' seat, Richard Pulman buzzed the little 200 Montesa around to win Youth Twinshock. Matt Sharp won the Clubman class. The Youth Classes enjoyed their big lap trial - James Dring pipping youngster Connor Watson and Niamh Watson. Pre65 Easy went to veteran legend John 'Nipper' Pattinson. Herbert Robinson and Anthony Thompson battled hard in Twinshock Easy, whilst more Pulmans, Andy and Bobbie, topped the Clubman Easy and Youth Easy Classes.
Donations from this event will be made to the Air Ambulance. Many thanks to the landowners Simon and Louise Gill, all the observers, marking out crew, and anyone else involved in making this trial a huge success.
Eboracum MC hope to see you all next year.
