33 Riders spread across 7 categories including the Twin Shock Championship run over the Clubman Route took part in round one of the rescheduled Bolton MCC Novex Series at Roggerham Gate, Sweetwell Cattery on 30th June. This was rearranged due to it being cancelled because of snow and high winds first time round at the venue in March. 10 sections awaited the riders on a warm overcast day with a stiff breeze a stark contrast to the previous day when the sections ninjas set out in desert like conditions in the quarry.
With all section observed riders were greeted with a varied sections over quarried rocks and steep grassy stoney banks with grip in bucketfuls. Sections 1 & 2 were at the entrance using the bank and some well placed rock slabs with 3,4,5 and 6 riders were into the middle and top of the quarry over rock sections with some tricky rock to get up and over and loose gravel banks. 7,8 and 9 used the far slopes of the quarry edge with section 7 a super laxative section for the Inters and section 8 for the Experts a true test of grip. 10 finished off the lap and brought the riders back around in the quarry with an up, across and down a steep off camber climb. Some low marks were had but special mention to Andrew King in the Twinshock Championship, the only rider to go clean all day.
