Heavy rain was forecast for round 7 of the Yorkshire Classic Trials Championship at Lumb Waterfall near Cowling. Thankfully the weather gods moved the storm overnight to Lancashire and the 40 riders were only slightly damp on the excellent route set by Dale Harrison and son William who got drenched the day before setting the 10 sections.
Talented expert Paul Dennis (Cub) was on top form losing 2 to take premier route honours by one mark from Ben Butterworth, back on his Ariel once again.
On the intermediate 50/50 route Steve Gossop (Bantam) lost 8 and got back to winning ways taking top spot ahead of arch rival Chris Wilson (Bantam) by 3 marks.
Pre-unit honours were alive and well on the clubman route with Ariel guru Carl Winstanley losing only 4 leaving the lightweights of Mick Whitlow (Bantam), Nick Atha (James) and Barry Fieldhouse (Bantam) in his wake.
