With the prospect of heavy rain for Round 7 of the Club’s Pre-unit Championship at Manor Farm, Glusburn, Clerks of Course Rob Lowther and Dale Harrison set a perfect course for the 18 hardy riders. The heavy rain stayed away and conditions weren’t as bad as expected.
Top dog of the Pre-Unit riders was Steve Gossop riding Gary Mitchel’s well fettled Ariel losing his 2 marks on the tricky camber at section 7. Close behind on 4 was Stav Ingram also Ariel mounted.
Of the lightweights in the Non Championship class, Steve Thomas on his Bantam once again was on form and finished overall best on a single dab on the deceptive ups and downs at section 4. Cub mounted Steve Rayner lost 5 pipping Alan Mills (Bantam) for second on the older rider rule.
Section 7 was where most marks were dropped on a tight uphill left hand slippery camber that got worse towards the end. Steve Thomas was the only clean on every lap here. The steep climb at Section 6 had to be scrubbed as it was judged to be too difficult for the conditions.
Despite the continuous light rain, the riders were well pleased with the day and our thanks go to the Landowner, Clerks of Course, Observers and of course Barry for results.
