This last weekend saw the 36th edition of the Barcelona Indoor Trial and the second round of the World X-Trial Championship, where Gas Gas rider Adam Raga finished second in the final standings, behind Championship leader, Toni Bou. Raga, five times winner of the Barcelona Indoor Trial, completed the course of the five zones with a total of 21 points.
After his disastrous seventh position in Sheffield, the Palau Sant Jordi was the scene for the rider from Ulldecona to recover in the World Cup with second place ahead of Japanese rider Takahisa Fujinami. Raga, who now has 18 points in the World Indoor Championships, staged a tight competition during the first part of the trial with his main opponent, Toni Bou, and kept his chances of victory open, displaying his full potential until the next to last zone.
Where in the Enduro course was designed by Carlos Mas and Jordi Castells, the trial areas were the work of Francesc Tarrés, brother of seven-time world champion Jordi Tarrés. One clue was that this year there was a fifth zone, especially selected and that served as Raga’s podium.
Adam Raga: "I've been pushing to the last two zones, but there I failed, and it was a shame because Toni and I had been very close, and surely he would have followed me if he had fallen behind. After the bad start I had in the first round of the championship in Sheffield, this success gives me strength to continue fighting until the end."
