This weekend saw the 2018 season get underway with the traditional start to the New Year, the Martin Lampkin Trial at Sheffield Arena in the UK where several of the world’s best battled it out over the now-familiar sections that make up this popular Trial.
Not part of the X-Trial World Championship, the line-up is by invitation and comprised of Toni Bou (Repsol Honda), Adam Raga (TRS), Jaime Busto (Gas Gas), James Dabill (Beta), Jorge Casales (Vertigo), Miquel Gelabert (Sherco), Jack Price (Gas Gas) and Iwan Roberts (TRS).
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it was Bou who dominated the night with some incredible show-boating that delighted the packed audience, though at the close of qualifying he had only a slight two mark lead over Raga. That was to change in the final though as the master upped his game to finish with a comfortable ten point buffer over Raga with Miquel Gelabert, who for us turned in the performance of the night, claiming the remaining podium spot.
