Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) finished second in the event starting the 38th edition of the World Outdoor Trials Championship this Saturday. Only two points away from the winner, the Montesa rider, defending the title he has won in the last five years, maintained his options to win up to the last moment. Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) finished fifth.
Francesc Moret (Montesa) was second in the Junior category (16 points) after having recovered two positions in the second lap, in which he obtained only 2 points.
Toni Bou: "If you’re not the winner, a second position is the best possible result. Of course, I can’t feel satisfied, but that’s how things are. Adam was very tough and I made a serious mistake in the second zone of the second lap that conditioned my performance until the end, as the event was not so difficult technically and it was difficult to recover. If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, it will again be an easy trial, but for the same reason it’ll not be without tension".
Takahisa Fujinami: "I did very badly. The draw that determined the starting order was not favourable to me and I entered areas without references and without feeling at ease. I lacked confidence and it’s not normal to finish with so many points. I hope things will change tomorrow. I’ll be starting in the first group and will have references and will know the response of the bike better in this quite high terrain”.
