Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) won on the first day of the Japanese Trial Grand Prix, held this Saturday. With a fourth consecutive victory in the current edition of this championship, the Montesa rider has now an advantage of 22 points as leader in the general classification. The plurichampion established important differences from the first lap, on a track with little technical difficulty, obtaining his best score on the second lap. Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) finished fourth, conditioned by a couple of mistakes he made in the first lap. Montesa is again the leader as a manufacturer and maintains its strong advantage in this classification.
Francesc Moret (Montesa) was second in the Junior category, just two points away from the winner, achieving his fourth podium position. Moret continues second in the general classification in this category.
Toni Bou: “I've got several reasons to feel completely satisfied. Firstly, being in Japan once again and winning again in a scenario that is so important for Honda. And I also give a great deal of significance to this victory because of the position it has given me in the championship. The differences with my rivals have widened and our work is providing the best possible results”.
Takahisa Fujinami: “Like every year, I was looking forward to this event on the calendar, but the pressure I was under racing at home was too much, and in the first lap I made two mistakes with very serious consequences for my intention to obtain a podium position. Toni and the rest of the team helped me in the second lap and things went better, but it was too late. Tomorrow will be another day and I hope to finish with a better feeling”.
