2012 FIM Trial World Championship Round 5, Day 2

montesa-hrc-logoToni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) continues solidly leading the World Trials Championship, with three events to go to end the season, he is 40 points in the lead in the general classification. After a string of eight consecutive victories, the Montesa rider finished fourth on the second day of the Grand Prix of Andorra, held this Sunday. Toni Bou achieved the best score of the day on the first lap, but a couple of errors in the second pass through the zones left him off the podium for the first time this season. Like his teammate, Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) was also off the podium.

Francesc Moret (Montesa) now holds third position in the general classification of the Junior world championship finishing seventh in this category today.

Toni Bou: “Today's result is a good reminder that our rivals are strong and don't forgive any of our mistakes. It's been an easy trial, of the type I don't like, and as usual in these conditions, mistakes are very important. I made two mistakes on the second lap and was off the podium, its as simple as that. What's important is that with the eight victories in the previous events, we have enough leeway to calmly face the final stretch of the championship. We'll continue working as usual and being careful with the injuries”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “Contrary to yesterday, I can't feel satisfied today. The trial's been similar to yesterday's, perhaps a little more difficult but of the type where you can't make up for any point lost due to mistakes. I lost some points here and others there, while my rivals were much more consistent. I made every effort I could, but it doesn't show in the result”.

Toni Bou and Montesa could seal the rider's and manufacture's championship titles, respectively, in the eleventh and antepenultimate scoring event, held on July 8th in Santo Stefano d'Aveto, Italy.
