2012 FIM Trial World Championship Round 5

Sherco logoThe latest edition of the 2012 World Trials Championship was held in Sant Julia de Loria, in the Naturlandia Park, south of the City of Andorra. Disadvantaged by the draw that made him go first, Albert Cabestany rode his best but finished up in fifth place in Saturday's race. The race had just started when he picked up a 5 in the first section, but Albert stayed focused and finished the round with 32 points.

 

Cabestany walked away determined to do better on Sunday. In the first loop on Sunday, Albert had 4 points which placed him just behind Toni Bou (Montesa) who had 2 points. In the second loop, Albert Cabestany maintained the same level of concentration and finished the loop with 6 points. With a total of 10 points Albert Cabestany wins this round in front of Jeroni Fajardo (Beta) 13 points and Adam Raga (GasGas) 14 points. It was a very exhausted, but happy Albert Cabestany who mounted the top step of the podium on Sunday.

 

andorra albert cabestany sherco storyIn the overall standings , Albert Cabestany is third with 145 points. Jeroni Fajardo is second with 150 points and Toni Bou is in the lead with 190 points.

 

In the Junior Championship, with a first loop score of 0, Alexandre Ferrer immediately imposed his determination on the Andorra Grand Prix. Committing only one error in the next loop, Alexandre ends up with 5 points. These 5 points allow him to win the event ahead of Jorge Casales (GasGas) who had 7 points and Benoit Dagnicourt (Beta) who had 12 points. Cédric Tempier finished 9th, Håkon Pedersen was 12th and Jonas Widschwendter finished 18th. On Sunday, very relaxed and confident in his destiny, Ferrer was back on his Sherco. Although at the end of the day he was not satisfied with his performance, the 11 points he earned put him in fifth place for the day. The results that he achieved in the Andorra race assured him the 2012 Junior World Trials Championship. Cédric Tempier ends up 9th, Håkon Pedersen was 14th and Jonas Widschwendter finished 17th.

 

In the overall standingd, Alexandre Ferrer is the 2012 Junior World Champion with 186 points. Pol Tarres (JTG) is second with 136 points, Francesc Moret (Montesa) finishes third with 134 points. Cedric Tempier is ninth with 66 points and Håkon Pedersen 11th with 59 points. For the last two grand prix’s of the season, Alexandre will compete in the World Pro class.

 

This is a weekend where Sherco took some hard shots in the Youth Championship. Saturday brought its share of difficulties. Luke Walker finished 10th with 18 points and Oriol Noguera followed him with 19 points. Sunday was better, Luke finished fifth with 33 points and Oriol finished seventh with 39 points. In the overall standings, Oriol Noguera is seventh with 59 points and Luke Walker is eighth with 49 points.

 

This was overall a happy weekend for the team, with Albert Cabestany winning on Sunday and Alexandre Ferrer winning the title of Junior World Champion.
