Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) achieved an indisputable victory in the Spanish Trial Grand Prix, held this Sunday. With this victory, his third in the present edition of the World Championship, the Montesa rider is back in the lead of the general classification, with six events to conclude the championship. Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) improved on his results in two days of the previous championship event, finishing fourth, six points away from the second position, a result that keeps him third in general classification. Montesa has again headed the classification by manufacturers, consolidating its lead in this category.
The great difficulty of a track with 12 zones on three laps and the zeal of the zone controls in compliance with the ‘non stop’ regulations were decisive in the results of this seventh World Championship event. Conditions under which Toni Bou was comfortable, dominating the first and third laps and only one point behind in the second. Takahisa Fujinami gradually improved, obtaining a better score in each lap.
Toni Bou: “It’s been a difficult event with really complicated zones. I felt good from the beginning and was comfortable on the bike, which has enabled me to obtain an advantage quite soon. I’m very satisfied to recover the lead in the world championship. Two consecutive victories are very important, as much as to be again leading the general classification. This is the best incentive for our confidence and motivation”.
Takahisa Fujinami: “I don’t know how to define my sensations. To finish fourth is not a good result, but I think that to have finished six points from second is not much difference in such a difficult event. So, in view of my progress with regard to the previous event, I feel reasonably encouraged. The worst thing was my mistake in the easy second zone of the last lap. That’s where I lost all possibility of a podium position”.
