Repsol Montesa At Day 2 of UK World Trial

montesa-hrc-logoA fall in the seventh zone of the third lap did not stop Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) from winning in the second day of the British Trial Grand Prix, held this Sunday. With a penetrating injury in his right hand abdominal wall, which needed stitches and taking the plurichampion to a hospital at the end of the event, Toni Bou decided to try and finish the race and not only did it, but also achieved the best score, the same as in the previous two laps. With this victory, his sixth in the season, Toni Bou has increased his lead in the general classification to 10 points, with just two more events to finish the championship.

Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) reached the last zone with possibilities to achieve again a double victory for the team, but a mistake moved him down to fourth position. With Bou and Fujinami's results this weekend, Montesa has left the manufacturer's title decided.

Toni Bou (in the words of Miquel Cirera, Repsol Montesa Honda teammanager): “After the fall, we did our sums and saw that even with five points' penalty in each of the five remaining zones, we had the victory assured. Toni decided to give it a try and he reached the end. The lesion was not serious and did not concern us, especially when we now have four weeks ahead of us without competitions. The ten points' advantage in the general classification give us more confidence to achieve our goal, which is to revalidate the title for seventh consecutive year”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I didn't finish in the same line as yesterday and can't feel satisfied with the first lap and most of the second. Later I did better and recovered the sensations of the day before, reaching the last zone with a chance to repeat the second position, but in the end it wasn't possible. What's positive is that I've strengthened my third position in the general classification a bit more”.
