Repsol Montesa At First Day In France

montesa-hrc-logoTomorrow, Sunday, Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) will face the event that ends the 39th edition of the World Trial Championship leading the general classification and with five points advantage over his closest rival in the fight for the title. The Montesa rider, who finished third this Saturday on the first day of French Grand Prix, will regain the world championship title for seventh consecutive year if he wins or comes in second tomorrow in the last and decisive event of the championship.

If the fight for the rider's World Championship is maintaining the excitement up to the last minute, the manufacturer's title has already been decided this Saturday in favour of Montesa, obtaining their sixteenth title, the last eight consecutive and using the 4-stroke Cota 4RT.

Held at 2,000 metres above sea level, this event was less selective than it would have been with rain, something that cannot be ruled out for tomorrow.

Toni Bou: “We knew it wasn't going to be easy and from the second lap I had painful cramps, due to the pressure I've been under. It's been a typical non-complicated race in which you mustn't make any mistakes, and I made some. I got stuck on zone four, in addition, both Adam and Jeroni made a great race. Now it's time to turn the page. More than anything, I hope I'm in better shape tomorrow. It's going to be another intense day, but knowing that I don't need to win in order to revalidate the title is a relief”.

Takahisa Fujinami: “I decided to ride quickly so as not to run out of time. I kept up a constant and comfortable pace; the problem is that I made a lot of mistakes on the first lap, often due to lack of references. Later, I improved, but even so, I made more mistakes that I should have and evidently the result was very poor. Tomorrow I'm going out with a different frame of mind to defend the third position in the world championship”.
