Reigning FIM Trial World Champion Toni Bou – Repsol Honda was joined by his Japanese team mate Takahisa Fujinami – Repsol Honda, Britain’s James Dabill – Vertigo, Alexandre Ferrer – Sherco from France and finally Germany’s teenage rookie Franz Kadlec – Beta as the riders from FIM Trial World Championship played their part in recognising and celebrating World Environment Day (WED).
This is the ninth year that the FIM has supported WED with a range of activities to promote and increase awareness of this important date in the annual global calendar using the powerful outreach of motorcycle sport around the globe.
This year the WED campaign is titled – Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care. In line with this latest strategy the FIM has put in place a plan that actively encourages motorcyclists to take responsibility and care for the planet on which they ride. In addition to this the FIM is working to develop sustainable events across the varied disciplines that form its many FIM World Championships.
Confirming its long term and continued commitment to such matters the FIM puts great importance on its Environmental code and ensures that its 112 national federations, championship promoters, local organisers, officials, riders, teams and fans adhere to the code.
Whilst WED is an important occasion, equally the FIM promotes the overriding importance of taking responsibility on a daily basis – 365 days a year via its now well established Ride Green initiative and its FIM Environmental Ambassadors.
Former FIM Trial World Champion Takahisa Fujinami is himself an FIM Environmental Ambassador and offered his own personal dream and pledge to support today’s WED celebrations.
“I dream that my children live on a better planet - I pledge to continue to support the FIM Ride Green campaign as an FIM Environmental Ambassador.”
