The eighth and final round of the 2018 FIM Trial World Championship was always set to be a thriller with the Trial2 and Trial125 titles up for grabs plus the fight for the remaining places on the overall TrialGP podium still to be decided.
The Metzeler Offroad Park at Pietramurata Di Dro provided the perfect setting for the season finale, as the series introduced night qualification for the first time in the almost fifty-year history of the championship. Toni Bou - Repsol Honda rounded off his 2018 campaign with yet another hard fought victory to cement his latest crown that he had secured at the previous round in Great Britain. Adam Raga - TRRS took second on the day to secure third in the series as Jeroni Fajardo - Gas Gas finished third in Italy to end the season as vice World champion.
The fierce and enthralling battle between Matteo Grattarola - Honda and Toby Martyn - Montesa for the Trial2 title did not end well with controversy at the final section of the Trial spoiling what had otherwise been a great and fair fight. Grattarola was eventually crowned champion, but not in the best of circumstances.
Billy Green - Beta could only manage third on the day, but still became the first ever Trial125 World Champion since this class received elevated status for 2018.
